Tangled (2010) Disney movie

Tangled (2010)

to watch the 50th movie in Disney Animated Classics series, based on the German fairy tale 'Rapunzel' by the Brothers Grimm. Release on November 24, 2010, by Walt Disney Pictures, the film tells us the story of a lost princess with a long magical hair who yearns to leave her secluded tower.

Intro lines: This is the story of how I died. But don't worry, this is a fun story, and the truth is, it isn't even mine. This is the story of a girl named Rapunzel. And it starts with the sun. Once upon a time, a single drop of sunlight fell from the heavens. And from this small drop of sun grew a magic golden flower. It had the ability to heal the sick and injured. Oh, you see that old woman over there? You might want to remember her. She's kind of important. Centuries passed and a hop, skip and a boat ride away there grew a kingdom. The kingdom was ruled by a beloved king and queen. And the queen was about to have a baby. But she got sick. Really sick. She was running out of time, and that's when people start to look for a miracle. Or in this case, a magic golden flower. Ah! I told you she'd be important. Instead of sharing the sun's gift, this woman, Mother Gothel, hoarded its healing power and used it to keep herself youngfor hundreds of years. And all she had to dowas sing a special song: "Flower, gleam and glow, let your power shine, make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine, what once was mine."

Production
Tangled employed a unique artistic style by blending features of both computer-generated imagery (CGI) and traditional animation together, while utilizing non-photorealistic rendering to create the impression of a painting.

Trivia

Like other recent Disney animated features, Tangled is supported in retail stores by a line of toys and other merchandise. Many of the Rapunzel dolls emphasize her hair, while some also include sound clips from the film.

In order to market the film to both sexes, Disney changed the film's name from Rapunzel to Tangled while also emphasizing Flynn Rider, the film's prominent male character

Sales of Tangled in the US and Canada exceeded $95 million in DVD and Blu-ray sales, the highest grossing DVD of the year to date; its home video sales exceeded the film's earnings in its first week in theaters.

The film earned $590 million in worldwide box-office revenue, $200 million of which was earned in the United States and Canada. Tangled was nominated for a number of awards, including Best Original Song at the 83rd Academy Awards. The film was released on Blu-ray and DVD on March 29, 2011; an animated short sequel, Tangled Ever After, was released in 2012.

Tangled won best 3D scene of the year at the second annual International 3D Society Creative Arts Awards.

The Princess and the Frog (2009) Disney movie

The Princess and the Frog (2009)

to watch the 49th movie in Disney Classics inspired by E. D. Baker's novel 'The Frog Princess' and the Grimm brothers' fairy tale 'The Frog Prince'; released on November 25, 2009, was the first Disney movie to feature an African-American princess.

Production The story for the film began development by merging two separate projects in development at Disney and Pixar at the time, both based around the "Frog Prince" fairy tale. One of the projects was based on E. D. Baker's "The Frog Princess", in which the story's heroine (Princess Emma) kisses a prince turned frog (Prince Eadric), only to become a frog herself. The Princess and the Frog returns to the musical film format used in many of the previously successful Disney animated films.

Trivia

Disney announced on June 4, 2009, that they would release a video game inspired by the film and it was released on November 2009 exclusively for Wii and Nintendo DS platforms. It has been officially described an "adventure through the exciting world of New Orleans in a family-oriented video game," featuring events from the film and challenges for Princess Tiana.

Andreas Deja, a veteran Disney animator who supervised the character of Mama Odie in Princess and the Frog, says "I always thought that maybe we should distinguish ourselves to go back to what 2D is good at, which is focusing on what the line can do rather than volume, which is a CG kind of thing. What we're trying to do with Princess and the Frog is hook up with things that the old guys did earlier."

Princess Tiana costumes were selling out prior to Halloween 2009, and a gift set of Tiana-themed hair care products from Carol's Daughter sold out in seven hours on the company's website.

The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and Academy Award for Best Original Song.

At Disneyland Park, the show was replaced by a land-based event called Princess Tiana's Mardi Gras Celebration, which features Princess Tiana along with five of the original presentation's "Mardi Gras dancers" and the park's "Jambalaya Jazz Band" as they perform songs from the movie.

The character animators found some difficulty with this approach, and decided to use traditional paper and pencil drawings, which were then scanned into the computer systems, for The Princess and the Frog.

Bolt

to watch the 48th movie in Disney Animated Classics series about a small white dog named Bolt, who thinks that he has super powers; Released on 2008, Bolt made $309,979,994 worldwide.

Quotes

Bolt: Listen, listen! The man with the green eye. Tell me what you know, birds!
Vinnie: I know this dog.
Bobby: Yeah, yeah, me too!
Vinnie: I gotta remember, it's gonna kill me. Hold on. No, I don't know. I, I, I thought I know.
Bobby: Hey, you ever hang out down on 14th Street with a stray named Kelvin?
Joey: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Kelvin, the Labrador.
Bolt: What?
Vinnie: You gotta gimme something here, cause this is redonkulous.
Bobby: Absolutely redonkulous!
Vinnie: Capisch redonkulous! Ya know what that means?

Rhino: If Bolt's taught me anything, it's that you never abandon a friend at a time of need!

Mittens: Think about it, Bolt. Since you got lost, none of your superpowers are working, are they? For the first time, you're hungry, you're bleeding... I mean, do you really think that you were born with a birthmark in the exact shape of a lighting bolt?

Mittens: What are you doing?
Bolt: Stay back! If I stare at the lock really hard, it'll burst into flames and melt.
Mittens: Now I'm concerned on a number of levels.

Trivia Bolt's characteristics are based on an amalgam of breeds, although the designers started with the American White Shepherd. The look of the movie was inspired by the paintings of Edward Hopper and the cinematography of Vilmos Zsigmond.

The number on Bolt's dog tag is the address of Disney's feature animation building.

The "Bolt" TV show was originally going to be called "The Omega Dog".

Bolt's carrot chew toy is a visual reference to Carrot, a character in early segments of the weekly Internet puppet show "Funday Pawpet Show", a favorite broadcast among many Florida Disney creative personal, some of who have made appearances on the show.

The studio lot shown in Bolt is a recreation of the Riverside Dr entrance to the Disney Studio lot in Burbank, California.

Bolt's archenemy is named Dr. Calico. Appropriately, Calico is a type of cat.

During his cross-country adventures, Bolt's signature lightning bolt mark on his side fades away, returns and then fades again.

In one of the movie's early scenes, set in the animal rescue center where Penny adopts Bolt, a poster can be seen with the year 2008 written on it. Yet, in the next scene, which according to the film is taking place five years later, Bolt can be seen reading a magazine dated March 2008. That would be the same year Bolt was adopted. This is an obvious impossibility.

Grand Councilwoman: Experiment 626. Give us a sign you understand any of this. Show us that there is something inside you that is good.
Stitch: Meega, nala kwishta!
Grand Councilwoman: [horrified] So naughty!

Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) Disney movie Watch Disney Full Movie Online For Free Streaming Without Downloading

to watch the 41st movie in Disney Animated Classics series inspired by the works of Jules Verne; Set in 1914, the movie tells the story of Milo Thatch who gains possession of a sacred book, which he believes will guide him and a crew of adventurers to the lost city of Atlantis.
Premiered on June 3, 2001, Atlantis: The Lost Empire went into general release on June 15. Distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, Atlantis budgeted at $100 million, the film grossed over $186 million worldwide, $84 million of which was earned in North America. Story The movie begins with a large tidal wave, triggered by an explosion, which threatens to drown the island of Atlantis. In the midst of an evacuation from the capital city, the Queen of Atlantis is caught by a hypnotic blue light and lifted up into the "Heart of Atlantis", a powerful crystal protecting the city. Several thousand years later, in 1914, Milo Thatch believes that he has found The Shepherd's Journal, an ancient manuscript allegedly containing directions to the lost island.

Quotes

Milo: I know, but this... this doesn't make any sense. See, in this passage here, the shepherd seems to be leading up to something. He calls it the Heart of Atlantis. It could be the power source the legends refer to.

Commander Rourke: So we find this masterpiece. Then what?
Mole: When do we dig?
Milo: Actually, we don't have to dig. You see, according to the journal, the path to Atlantis will take us down a tunnel at the bottom of the ocean and will come up a curve into an air pocket, right here, where we'll find the remnants of an ancient highway that will lead us to Atlantis.

Wilhelmina: Thank God I lost my sense of taste years ago.

Milo: This is an illustration of the Leviathan, the creature guarding the entrance to Atlantis.

Preston B. Whitmore: What happened to Helga?
Cookie: Well, we lost her when a flaming zeppelin come down...

Production

The overall design and circular layout of Atlantis: The Lost Empire were also based on the writings of Plato, and his quote "in a single day and night of misfortune, the island of Atlantis disappeared into the depths of the sea" was influential from the beginning of production.

Trivia

Atlantis was promoted at Disneyland with models of the characters Kida and Milo displayed on Main Street.

Atlantis: the Lost Empire was meant to provide a springboard for an animated television series entitled Team Atlantis, which would have presented the further adventures of its characters.

The spiral "Atlantis" symbol can be found hidden in many places in the movie.

At the time of its release, Atlantis: The Lost Empire was notable for using more computer-generated imagery (CGI) than any other Disney-animated feature. To increase productivity, the directors had the digital artists work with the traditional animators throughout the production.

The final shot of the film, the restored Atlantis, was actually a combination of hundreds of drawings lined up into one 1500-foot long drawing.

A direct-to-video sequel, Kronk's New Groove, was released in December 2005, followed by an animated television series, The Emperor's New School, in January 2006.

Quotes

Kuzco: This is Yzma, the emperor's advisor. Living proof that dinosaurs once roamed the Earth.

Kuzco: Maybe I'm just new to this whole rescuing thing, but this, to me, might be considered kind of a step backwards, wouldn't you say?

Pacha: Oh, really? I'm supposed to see him today.
Old Man: Don't throw off his groove!
Pacha: Oh, okay.

Kuzco: Oh, a leaf! Oh, it might attack me. Oh, it's a scary tree! I'm afraid. Please. Never find my way? I'm the Emperor, and as such, I'm born with an innate sense of direction. Okay, where am I?

Kuzco: And let's not forget Yzma's right-hand man. Every decade or so she gets a new one. This year's model is called Kronk.

Old Man: His groove! The rhythm in which he lives his life. His pattern of behavior. I threw it off. And the Emperor had me thrown out the window.

Kronk: You owe me a new acorn.

Kuzco: You threw off my groove!
Guard: I'm sorry, but you've thrown off the Emperor's groove.

Trivia

In the dinner scene where Kronk lights a pair of candles the holder is of a small figure. This was a character from the early versions of the film. He was an advisor to the emperor that was later written out.

The story was rebuilt from the ground up, creating a new, wackier film that centered around Spade's (talking) llama, Yzma, and two new characters: Pacha, now a middle-aged man played by John Goodman, and Kronk.

David Spade was in his mid 30s when he was voicing the role of the nearly 18-year old Emperor Kuzco.

Pacha also eventually was to fall in love with Nina (voice of Carla Gugino), the emperor's betrothed.

The setting and culture of The Emperor's New Groove are based on the Inca Empire that developed into what is now modern-day Peru.
Dindal and Fullmer assured him that The Emperor's New Groove, as the film was now called, would have a much smaller cast, making it easier to involve audiences.

Trivia

The attraction called Dinosaur at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park was originally to be opened at the same time as the movie's release.

Initially, the directors were to use the popular Tyrannosaurus as the film's antagonistic predator but at around the time of production motherly side to the classic dinosaur.

One creature that was designed but cut from the final film was a Mosasaurus. In some video game versions of "Dinosaur", the Mosasaurus makes an appearance.

The Oviraptor, the dinosaur that steals Aladar's egg, was native to Asia, while the large amphibian Koolasuchus only lived near the antarctic circle.

Dinosaur combines the use of live-action backgrounds with computer animation of prehistoric creatures, notably the titular dinosaurs, produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation's Computer Graphics Unit.

Dinosaur was a box-office success. It opened at #1 making $38,854,851 in its first weekend from 3,257 theaters, for an average of $11,929 per theater.

Fantasia 2000 Disney movie Watch Disney Full Movie Online For Free Streaming Without Downloading

to watch the 38th movie in Disney Animated Classics series, which consists of wonderful animated segments set to pieces of famous classical music; The film premiered at Carnegie Hall in New York City for three nights as part of a five-city concert tour on December 17. Fantasia 2000 was first screened in 75 IMAX cinemas worldwide from January 1 to April 30, 2000, becoming the first animated feature-length film to be exhibited in the format. Fantasia 2000 was opened wide in the United States on June 16, 2000 and has earned $90.8 million in gross revenue worldwide. Fantasia 2000 features many technical innovations that would later be utilized in the Disney studio's other animation works, particularly in the use of computers. Pictures of the segments of Fantasia 2000: Soundtracks of Fantasia 2000 was performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra with conductor James Levine. A group of celebrities introduce each segment in live-action scenes including Steve Martin, Bette Midler, Penn & Teller, James Earl Jones, Quincy Jones and Angela Lansbury.

Quotes

Steve Martin: You know, what's amazing is that many of these musicians are playing for the very first time. Thanks to Steve Martin's Two-Week Master Musician Home Study course. More about that later. Hello, and welcome to Fantasia 2000. It's been more than 60 years since Walt Disney and his artists, teamed up with maestro Leopold Stokowski to create a film they titled The Concert Feature. I think we're all glad that they changed the name to Fantasia. You know, Fantasia was meant to be a perpetual work in progress. Every time you went to see it, you'd experience some new pieces along with some old familiar favourites. But that idea fell by the wayside, until now. So let me turn things over to the great Itzhak Perlman, who, I have just been informed, plays the violin. Well, so do I. Big deal. Could I have my violin, please? Ahh, thank you. All right, boys, let's... Oh! Oh, sorry. Could I have another stick thingy, please? Oh, and camera back on me. Camera back on me. Am I done?

Trivia

Instead of being produced all at once, as the original Fantasia had been, each segment was produced individually during production lulls between features.

Director Eric Goldberg animated "The Carnival of the Animals" himself. His separate short, based on George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue", was released as part of Fantasia 2000 and became, at 12 minutes, the longest segment. "Rhapsody in Blue," originally planned by director Eric Goldberg as a stand-alone independent film, was an eleventh-hour addition to the lineup. The Nutcracker Suite from the original Fantasia was originally planned for this spot, until a production hiatus allowed Goldberg an opportunity to allow the Disney animators to work on "Rhapsody in Blue."

The rain seen during Pomp and Circumstance was filmed back in 1940 and was used in the Rite of Spring segment in the first Fantasia.

The opening abstract segment, set to Ludwig van Beethoven's Fifth, directly mirrors the opening of Fantasia which also began with an abstract section, set to Johann Sebastian Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.

The "Carnival of the Animals" segment with the yo-yo-playing flamingo was originally conceived with ostriches in mind by Joe Grant, 91-year-old head of story on Fantasia 2000 and the only crew member to have worked on the original Fantasia.

When Bette Midler was introducing "The Steadfast Tin Soldier" by talking about ideas that were originally going to be in the original Fantasia she mentions Flight Of The Bumble Bee.

One significant difference in the musical styles between the films is that in Fantasia 2000 the piano features prominently in more than half of the selections, while the original Fantasia did not feature one.

The scenes were directed by Disney animation producer Don Hahn. Instead of using a single narrator like Fantasia did, people from different areas of the art world introduce each segment in Fantasia 2000.

Tarzan (1999) Disney movie Watch Disney Full Movie Online For Free Streaming Without Downloading

to watch the 37th movie in Disney Animated Classics series based on the story Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs; Released by Walt Disney Pictures on June 18, 1999, is the only major motion picture version of the story Tarzan property to be animated and was the last major box office success of the Disney Renaissance. This is the first Tarzan movie were the apes that adopt him are gorillas instead of chimpanzees. Tantor was an old bull elephant disliked by the denizens of the jungle, Sabor was a lioness, and Terkoz (presumably "Terkina" known as "Terk") was a male ape and Tarzan's arch-nemesis within the troop. Also, Kerchak murdered Tarzan's family. The producers changed it not only to make him more sympathetic, but also to make it less gruesome for families.
Tarzan: Jane.
Jane Porter: Exactly.

Terk: What kind of animal are you?
Tantor: You know, I've been thinking lately that Tarzan may be some sub-species of elephant.

Tarzan: It's very nice.
Jane Porter: Oh, thank you. I can't do a thing with it in this humidity and - you do speak? And all this time I thought you were this big, wild, quiet, silent, person-thing! Trivia

Tarzan has been adapted from its book many times over the years and is second only to Dracula in the adaptation chart.

To see how Tarzan's body would move while sliding down a log, the animators based his movement on that of pro skateboarder Tony Hawk while on his skateboard.

One of the main reasons why animation was chosen as the perfect way to execute a Tarzan story was because the character is so lithe and animal-like, it would have been nearly impossible to achieve those effects with live action.

The signature "Tarzan yell" is provided by Brian Blessed, the voice of the film's villain Clayton.

The Disney animators actually hired a professor of anatomy to consult with them over Tarzan's musculature. He would superimpose the correct type of muscles over their drawings to help show them how to depict a man at the peak of his physical prowess.

Mulan: But I don't wanna kick the other kid's butt.
Mushu: Don't talk with your mouth full. Now let's see your war face.

The Emperor of China: I've heard a great deal about you, Fa Mulan. You stole your father's armor, ran away from home, impersonated a soldier, deceived your commanding officer, dishonored the Chinese Army, destroyed my palace, and... you have saved us all.

Mulan: I never want to see a naked man again.
Mushu: Hey, don't look at me, I ain't biting no more butts.

Production Mulan originally began as a short, straight-to-video film titled "China Doll".

Trivia

Mulan (voiced by Ming-Na) is a female who dresses and passes as male to join the military. BD Wong (the voice of Shang) began his acting career as a male who dresses and passes as a female in M. Butterfly.

Both Mulan and her father were animated by the same team as this helped make them seem related to each other.

The scene where Mulan disarms Shan-Yu with a fan shows an actual martial art technique.

Crickets are considered a symbol of good luck in China, hence the inclusion of one as a character.

In one of the original versions of the film, Mulan was engaged to Li Shang and matching Yin-Yang necklaces were bestowed upon them.

"Fa" is the Cantonese pronunciation of Mulan's family name.

Calliope: We are the Muses, goddesses of the arts and proclaimers of heroes.
Terpsichore: Heroes like Hercules.
Thalia: Honey, you mean "Hunk-ules." Ooh, I'd like to make some sweet music with him.
Calliope: Our story actually begins long before Hercules was born, many eons ago.

When Phil and Hercules first enter Phil's hut, Hercules bangs his head on what Phil tells him is the mast of the Argo. In Greek mythology, Jason, the captain of the Argo, was killed when the mast hit his head.

In the scene where Hercules rushes into the town with a carriage containing Amphitryon, Penelope, and a tall bale of hay, the bale hits the top of the entrance to the town, and two men carrying a stone block fall off the top.

Hercules puts his hands in the water trying to reach Meg's soul. Seconds later, when he jumps into the water, he is a hundred feet up on a cliff.

It was then re-issued on March 19, 2002 on DVD along with its direct-to-video sequel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame II.

Quotes
Clopin: Ladies and gentlemen, don't panic. We asked for the ugliest face in Paris, and here he is! Quasimodo, the hunchback of Notre Dame!

Frollo: My conscience is clear. The Archdeacon: You can lie to yourself and your minions, you can claim that you haven't a qualm, but you never can run from nor hide what you've done from the eyes! The very eyes of Notre Dame!
The Archdeacon: Frollo, have you gone mad? I will not tolerate this assault on the house of God! Frollo: [flinging the Archdeacon down the stairwell] Silence, you old fool! The hunchback and I have unfinished business to attend to. And this time, you will not interfere.

Clopin: Now here is a riddle to guess if you can. Sing the bells of Notre Dame. Who is the monster and who is the man?

Esmeralda: What is this place?
Quasimodo: This is where I live.
Esmeralda: Did you make all these things yourself?
Quasimodo: Most of them.
Esmeralda: This is beautiful. Oh, if I could do this, you wouldn't find me dancing in the streets for coins.
Quasimodo: But you're a wonderful dancer.

Phoebus: Are you coming with me?
Quasimodo: I can't.
Phoebus: I thought you were Esmeralda's friend.
Quasimodo: Frollo's my master; I can't disobey him again.

Production

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is the second Disney animated film directed by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise.

Trivia

The opening scene, in which Clopin sings "The Bells of Notre Dame," was originally all spoken dialogue. After two revisions, it was decided that it was too dry and boring, and so was turned into a musical number.

When Quasimodo was rappelling down from Notre Dame to save Esmeralda, we can see hand-drawn animation combined with 3D scenes.

At the end of the film as the camera zooms out from Notre Dame cathedral, the pigeons all gather on Laverne again. She shoos them off and asks them if they ever migrate.

To stay consistent to the architecture and details of Notre Dame, animators spent several weeks in and around the actual cathedral. They were given office space at the recently-opened Disneyland Paris in the interim.

Kocoum: Pocahontas can't keep running off. It's dangerous out there. Tell her that. She listens to you.

Trivia

Pocahontas herself is now frequently cited as being one of the most beautifully and realistically animated characters in the Disney canon, her fluid movements mainly being attributed to rotoscoping.

Irene Bedard, who provided the voice of Pocahontas, was also the physical model for the animated character.

John Candy had provided a large amount of voice work into a character named "Redfeather", a turkey as Pocahontas's sidekick.

The film's premiere was a huge event in Central Park. With over 100,000 people attending, it holds the record for the largest movie premiere.

The film depicts Pocahontas as a woman in her twenties or perhaps late teens, thus making a romance with John Smith, who was in his late twenties at the time, more acceptable.
The first film to feature Mel Gibson singing.

Trivia

Originally titled "King of the Jungle", it was supposed to be about African lions living in the jungle until the production team realized that lions don't live in the jungle. Interestingly enough, the phrase "King of the Jungle" is still used on certain T-shirts sold at the Disney Store.

Several Disney animators went to Africa to study animal behavior and interaction in the wild. A grown lion and a cub were also brought into the animation studio as models for anatomy and musculature.

The Lion King opened on Broadway in 1997. The musical garnered 6 Tony Awards including Best Musical, and is produced by Disney Theatrical.

In the end of the scene where Mufasa explains to Simba that the stars are old kings, we can see the constellation of Leo (the lion) in the sky.

The lyric for the opening chant of "The Circle of Life" is: "Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba / Sithi uhm ingonyama / Nants ingonyama bagithi baba / Sithi uhhmm ingonyama / Ingonyama Siyo Nqoba / Ingonyama Ingonyama nengw enamabala". This translates as: "Here comes a lion, Father / Oh yes, it's a lion / Here comes a lion, Father / Oh yes, it's a lion / A lion We're going to conquer / A lion A lion and a leopard come to this open place".

Nearly twenty minutes of the film were animated at the Disney-MGM Studios. Ultimately, more than 600 artists, animators and technicians contributed to The Lion King over its lengthy production schedule.

The film also won many awards, most of them for its soundtrack. Aladdin's success led to many material inspired by the film such as two direct-to-video sequels, The Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves, an animated television series, toys, video games, spin-offs, and merchandise.

Quotes

Aladdin: Genie, I wish for your freedom.
Genie: One bona fide prince pedigree coming up. I... what?
Aladdin: Genie, you're free!

Aladdin: You're a prisoner?
Genie: It's all part and parcel, the whole "genie gig": Phenomenal cosmic powers! Itty-bitty living space!

Genie: Enough about you, Casanova. Talk about her.
Aladdin: Huh?
Genie: She's smart, fun. The hair, the eyes. Anything. Pick a feature.

Aladdin: Wow. The palace looks pretty amazing, huh?
Princess Jasmine: [disappointed] Oh, it's wonderful.
Aladdin: I wonder what it'd be like to live there, and have servants, and valets.
Princess Jasmine: Oh, sure. People who tell you where to go and how to dress.
Aladdin: That's better than here. You're always scraping for food and ducking the guards.
Princess Jasmine: You're not free to make your own choices.
Aladdin: Sometimes you feel so...
Princess Jasmine: You're just...
Aladdin, Princess Jasmine: ...trapped.

Production

Several characters and plot elements are also based on the 1940 version of The Thief of Bagdad. One of the first issues that the animators faced during production of Aladdin was the depiction of Aladdin himself.

Trivia

Aladdin also received many award nominations, mostly for its music.

In the first draft, Aladdin had three friends (Babkak, Omar, and Kassim), a magic ring and two genies. In the spin-off series Aladdin, Omar was the name of the fruit-merchant.

This is (as of 2006) the only traditionally animated film to be nominated for the MTV Movie Award for Best Picture.

On what came to be known among the Aladdin animators as Black Friday, then Disney head Jeffrey Katzenberg told the team to scrap virtually everything they'd been working on for months and start all over again.

Beauty and the Beast (1991) Disney movie

to watch the 30th movie in Disney Animated Classics series based on the fairy tale La Belle et la Bête by Jeanne-Marie Le Prince de Beaumont; Release Date: November 13, 1991 (world premiere); November 22, 1991 (United States). The film earned over $424 million in box office earnings throughout the world. Beauty and the Beast was also nominated for several awards, and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, with two other awards for its music.
Intro line: Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a young prince lived in a shining castle. Although he had everything his heart desired, the prince was spoiled, selfish, and unkind. But then, one winter's night, an old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away. But she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within. And when he dismissed her again, the old woman's ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress. The prince tried to apologize, but it was too late, for she had seen that there was no love in his heart. And as punishment, she transformed him into a hideous beast and placed a powerful spell on the castle and all who lived there. Ashamed of his monstrous form, the beast concealed himself inside his castle, with a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world. The rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose, which would bloom until his 21st year. If he could learn to love another, and earn her love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time. As the years passed, he fell into despair and lost all hope. For who could ever learn to love a beast?

Quotes

Belle: Who's there? Who are you?
Beast: The master of this castle.

Villagers: It's know no wonder that her name means beauty her looks have got no parallel. But behind that fair façade I'm afraid she's rather odd. Very different from the rest of us. She's nothing like the rest of us. Yes, different from the rest of us is Belle.

Beast: Oh, it's no use. She's so beautiful, and I'm... Well, look at me!
Mrs. Potts: Oh, must help her to see past all that.

Villagers: It's a pity and a sin. she doesn't quite fit in 'cause she really is a funny girl a beauty but a funny girl she really is a funny girl... that Belle!

Beast: You came back.
Belle: Of course I came back. I couldn't let them... Oh, this is all my fault. If only I'd gotten here sooner.
Beast: Maybe... it's better - it's better this way.
Belle: Don't talk like that. You'll be all right. We're together now. Everything's going to be fine, you'll see.
Beast: At-at least... I got to see you... one last time.

Gaston: Here in town there's only she, who is beautiful as me, so I'm making plans to woo and marry Belle.

Production

Attempts to develop the Beauty and the Beast story into a film were made in the 1930s and 1950s, but were ultimately given up because it "proved to be a challenge" for the story team. Peter M. Nichols states Disney may later have been discouraged by Jean Cocteau having already done his version.

Trivia

In the 1930s and again in the 1950s, Walt Disney attempted to adapt Beauty and the Beast into a feature but could not come up with a suitable treatment, so the project was shelved.

The dance between Belle and her Prince in the finale is actually reused animation of the dance between Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip in Sleeping Beauty. The original Sleeping Beauty pair had been drawn over to become the new Beauty and the Beast pair, and this was done because they were running out of time during the production of the movie.

The smoke seen during the transformation of the Beast to the Prince is actually real smoke, not animated. It was originally used in The Black Cauldron and was re-used for Beauty and the Beast.

Glen Keane, the supervising animator on the Beast, created his own hybrid beast by combining the mane of a lion, the beard and head structure of a buffalo, the tusks and nose bridge of a wild boar, the heavily muscled brow of a gorilla, the legs and tail of a wolf, and the big and bulky body of a bear. He also has blue eyes, the one physical feature that does not change whether he is a beast or a human.

In the first song, where Belle sings in the town, she sits by a fountain. As she reads the book (described earlier, as an adventure with a prince in disguise. It sounds just like Beauty and the Beast), she flips to a page, with a picture. Look closely, and you will see see that she is in the bottom right, the beast in the middle left, and the prince's castle in the middle.

In Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve's "The Story of Beauty and the Beast," - which was the original version of the tale - the prince was not turned into a beast for being selfish and unloving, but because he refused to marry his evil fairy godmother.

Trivia

When Joanna tries to bite into the "eagle eggs" the first time, she very briefly has three pairs of eyes when her head comes down.

In the original Rescuers film, the albatross Orville was voiced by Jim Jordan.

The Little Mermaid (1989) Disney movie Watch Disney Full Movie Online For Free Streaming Without Downloading

to watch a Disney movie based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale of the same name; Release Date: November 14, 1989
Story Ariel, a sixteen-year-old mermaid princess, is dissatisfied with life under the sea and curious about the human world. With her best fish friend Flounder, Ariel collects human artifacts and goes to the surface of the ocean to visit Scuttle the seagull, who offers very inaccurate knowledge of human culture. She ignores the warnings of her father King Triton and his adviser Sebastian that contact between merpeople and humans is forbidden, longing to join the human world and become a human herself.

Trivia

Previous to The Little Mermaid, the songs for animated films were written beforehand. With this film, composer Alan Menken and lyricist Howard Ashman worked alongside directors John Musker and Ron Clements throughout the whole storyboarding process so that the songs are an organic part of the film.

More money and resources were poured into The Little Mermaid than any other Disney animated film in decades. Aside from its main animation facility in Glendale, California, Disney also opened up a feature animation facility outside Orlando, Florida.

Before recording "Poor Unfortunate Souls", Pat Carroll asked Howard Ashman to sing the song one more time to get it right. He obliged, and as he sang he added little spoken ad-libs that Carroll then incorporated into her performance.

Songwriting team Alan Menken and Howard Ashman were brought to the attention of Disney Animation Chair Jeffrey Katzenberg by longtime colleague (and future Dreamworks co-founder) David Geffen, who was producing the team's off-Broadway musical "Little Shop of Horrors".

There are several shots of Ariel, forlornly sitting on a rock, in a pose reminiscent of the "Little Mermaid" statue that sits in Copenhagen harbor.

Disney artists had considered an animated film of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Mermaid" as part of the "Silly Symphonies" series, in the late 1930s, and illustrator Kay Nielsen prepared a number of striking story sketches in pastels and watercolors.

The wedding scene at the close of the film marked one of the first use of Computer Animation Production System in a Disney feature. The rest of The Little Mermaid uses hand-painted cels. All subsequent Disney features have used CAPS instead of ink-and-paint.

Einstein: Yeah!
Oliver: I just wanted some of the hot dogs I helped him get.
Tito: He's a spy, man! Come on, let's eat him! You're dead meat, kitty!

Production

The working title of the film during production was Oliver and the Dodger. Was the first animated Disney film to include real world advertised products. Oliver & Company was one of the first animated Disney films to introduce new sound effects for regular use, to replace many of their original classic sounds, which would be used occasionally in later Disney films.

Trivia

The only characters who are derived directly from their Dickensian counterparts are Oliver, Dodger, Fagin and Sykes.

This was the first Disney film to have its own department set up expressly for the purpose of generating computer animation.

Certain animal characters from previous Disney films make cameos in Oliver & Company. When Dodger sings "Why Should I Worry?" in the beginning of the film, some of the dogs shown are Peg, Jock, and Trusty from Lady and the Tramp (1955), and Pongo from One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961).

Fagin wears a Mickey Mouse watch. It's visible on his arm in a close-up as he waits for Oliver's rich owner to deliver the ransom money.

Marlon Brando was offered the role of Sykes by the head of the Walt Disney Company Michael Eisner himself.

The Great Mouse Detective (1986) Disney movie Watch Disney Full Movie Online For Free Streaming Without Downloading

to watch the 26th movie in Disney Animated Classics based on the children's book series Basil of Baker Street by Eve Titus; released on July 2, 1986, The Great Mouse Detective in which the main characters are all mice and rats living in Victorian London, made around $38,625,550 over a budget of $14 million. The film draws heavily on the tradition of Sherlock Holmes with a heroic mouse who consciously emulates the detective. The voice of famous human detective Sherlock Holmes who lives above Basil, is taken from clips of the original films.

Quotes

Fidget: Here you are, sweetheart.
The Mouse Queen: Have you... been with us... long?

Dr. Dawson: From that time on, Basil and I were a close team. We had many cases together, but I'll always look back on that first with the most fondness; my introduction to Basil of Baker Street, the great mouse detective.

Dr. Dawson: Salt water? Great Scott.
Basil: It proves beyond a shadow of a doubt, this note came from the riverfront area.

Lady Mouse: Is this the home of the famous Basil of Baker Street?
Dr. Dawson: Indeed it is, miss. You look as if you're in some kind of trouble.
Lady Mouse: Oh, I am. I am.
Dr. Dawson: Then you have come to precisely the right place.

Ratigan: Thank you, thank you. But it hasn't all been champagne and caviar. I've had my share of adversity, thanks to that miserable, second-rate detective, Basil of Baker Street!

Trivia

At the end of the film, in the first two cuts (opening the door and close-up) of the Lady Mouse from Hampstead, she has a mole on her left. But in all the other scenes after that, the mole has vanished. Of course, her eyes are shaped differently, too.

The firemen musicians on top of the music box in the toy shop is a reference to veteran Disney animator Ward Kimball. Kimball had a Dixieland jazz group called "The Firehouse Five, Plus Two" that often performed at Disneyland, even appearing on The Mickey Mouse Club.

When this film was originally released its title was "The Great Mouse Detective." When Disney re-released it years later they gave it the title of "The Adventures of the Great Mouse Detective."

The Black Cauldron (1985) Disney movie Watch Disney Full Movie Online For Free Streaming Without Downloading

to watch the 25th movie in Disney Animated Classics series, released on 1985, based on The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. The Black Cauldron cost $25 million to produce, the most expensive animated film made to that time.
Intro lines Narrator: Legend has it, in the mystic land of Prydain, there was once a king so cruel and so evil that even the Gods feared him. Since no prison could hold him, he was thrown alive into a crucible of molten iron. There, his demonic spirit was captured in the form of a great black cauldron. For uncounted centuries, the black cauldron lay hidden, waiting, while evil men searched for it, knowing whoever possessed it would have the power to resurrect an army of deathless warriors and, with them, rule the world... Dallben: The Horned King, that black hearted devil. What's he waiting for?
Story A young man Taran dreams of becoming a great warrior, but must stop daydreaming because his charge, the oracular pig Hen Wen, is in danger. The Horned King hopes she will help him find the Black Cauldron, which has the power to restore a kind of life to the dead, as undead slaves called "the Cauldron-Born". Dallben directs Taran to take Hen Wen to safety, but the lad's negligence results in the pig's capture by the Horned King's forces. The Horned King's soldiers interrupt, finally reaching the marshes themselves. They seize the cauldron and everyone but Gurgi, and return to the castle. The Horned King uses the cauldron to raise the dead and his Cauldron-Born army begins to pour out into the world. Soundtracks: The musical score in The Black Cauldron was composed by Elmer Bernstein.

Quotes

Orddu: My, what funny little ducklings. Don't they know that the Black Cauldron is indestructible? Now listen carefully.
The Black Cauldron can never be destroyed. Only its evil powers can be stopped.
Taran: Then there is a way. But how?
Orddu: A living being must climb into it of its own free will.
Gurgi: Gurgi is bold and brave. He will climb into the evil cauldron.
Orddu: However, the poor duckling will never climb out alive.

Gurgi: No, master. Not go into evil cauldron.
Taran: If I don't, we're all lost. Out of my way.

The Horned King: Soon the Black Cauldron will be mine. Its evil power will course through my veins, and I shall make you Cauldron Born. Yes. Yes. Oh, yes. Then you will worship me! Me. Oh, my soldiers. How long I have thirsted to be a god among mortal men.

Orddu: The only thing that mattered to you was the Cauldron, but now it is of no use to you. So we shall take it and be on our way.
Fflewddur Fflam: Stay your hand, ladies. We never give anything away. We bargain, we trade. Remember?
Orddu: Did these old ears hear the word "bargain"?
Fflewddur Fflam: Yes, Madam, your old ears heard right.

Production

For The Black Cauldron, a new way to transfer drawings to cels was invented, called the APT process. The film is notable for its early use of computer generated imagery in its animation for bubbles, a boat, and the cauldron itself.

Trivia

When the Horned King activates the power of the Black Cauldron the sound of a space shuttle launch was used.

The management team at Disney changed during Cauldron's production. New studio chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg screened the mostly completed film and was appalled by the darkness of the film.

A video game of the same name was designed by Al Lowe of Sierra On-Line and released in 1986. The King would be able to discover the Black Cauldron and rule the land.

But his best friend is a bear called Winnie the Pooh or Pooh for short. Now, Pooh had some very unusual adventures and they all happened right here in the Hundred-Acre Wood. Trivia

The character of Gopher (not in the book, but at your service) was originally included to replace the original 'A. A. Milne' character, Piglet. The studio eventually reinstated Piglet in the second featurette, Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day (1968).

The scene where Rabbit tries to decorate Pooh's bottom was one of Walt Disney's favorite scenes from his films.

The film also inspired an attraction of the same name at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and Hong Kong Disneyland. A much more elaborate attraction, also based on the film, opened in Tokyo Disneyland as "Pooh's Hunny Hunt".

All backgrounds for the film were outlined in ink to keep with the sketchy style of the original Ernest Shepard illustrations.

Tigger's trademark "Hoo-hoo-hoo!" laugh by was ad-libbed by Paul Winchell as well as his famous "TTFN-Ta Ta For Now!" line.

Last film work for Barbara Luddy, Sebastian Cabot and Junius Matthews.

Reviews

Disney's Robin Hood is my all time favorite Disney animation movie. I can practically recite every word from "Robin Hood and Little John walkin' through the forest" to "Now the days seem to fly life is brief but when it's gone love goes on and on ." Yet it's hardly ever mentioned, it's always been hard to find and you can never get a poster. The animation is beautiful! Those scenes of the castle and the church in the rain - you would think it was shot rather than drawn. The dialog is smart. The character's motives are seen and not told. It's not dumb down at all for kids... Find more in reviews page.

Trivia

Prince John, the brother of King Richard "the lionheart", the favorite son of their mother, was said to be crude and dim-witted, and attempted to usurp the throne from Richard while the latter fought in a crusade. Though Richard eventually returned from battle and foiled John's rebellion, he eventually became king anyway after Richard's untimely death (1199) in battle without an heir... Comments

The animation is great and just has that old feel to it when animators used to draw the pictures; it feels more personal and special that way. A great adaptation for the kids, one of Disney's buried treasures. It's funny, romantic, touching, and just very entertaining to watch. This version of Robin Hood has animals in the roles of the characters, and it works marvelously! And if Robin Hood is a fox, naturally, Maid Marian would be a vixen... Find more in comments page.
